Colistin sulfate is an antibiotic for treating infections in animals (calves, lambs, kids, suckling piglets, rabbits, chickens, turkeys, ducks, geese, pigeons, quails, pheasants, guinea fowl), such as diarrhea, intestinal and respiratory infections, caused by bacteria like E. coli, Salmonella, Pseudomonas, Shigella, Actinobacillus, and Bordetella.
COMPOSITION (1 g powder contains):
Active substance: Colistin sulfate 0.5 g
Excipients: Lactose monohydrate
ADMINISTRATION:
Administer orally, individually or to the group.
In calves, lambs, kids, suckling piglets, and rabbits, the product is administered diluted in drinking water, herbal infusion, or milk, at a dose of 0.9–1.2 g powder per 100 kg body weight per day (4.5–6 mg colistin sulfate/kg b.w., equivalent to 100,000 IU/kg b.w.), for 3–6 days.
In birds (chickens, turkeys, ducks, geese, pigeons, quails, pheasants, guinea fowl), it is administered diluted in drinking water at a dose of 9–12 g powder per 100 L per day (4.5–6 mg colistin sulfate/kg b.w., equivalent to 100,000 IU/kg b.w.), for 3–6 days.
In young pigs, it is administered in drinking water at 140 g powder per 1000 L water (5 mg colistin sulfate/kg b.w., equivalent to 100,000 IU/kg b.w.), for 5–7 days.
